Lina S. Cheung, FSA, MAAA, FCA, is a partner and co-founder of CP Risk Solutions, LLC. Ms. Cheung has over 20 years of underwriting, actuarial and risk management experience in the life and health insurance industry. At CP Risk Solutions, she consults with clients in the areas of product and portfolio strategies, market and product entry feasibility, acquisitions, company and product risk management, pricing, underwriting, program management, valuation, reinsurance solutions and broker relations.
Immediately before founding CP Risk Solutions, LLC, Ms. Cheung was a senior vice president at Platinum Underwriters Reinsurance, Inc. in charge of the accident and health reinsurance underwriting operations. Her other experience includes Milliman USA, Transamerica Reinsurance, Management Facility Corporation, Actuarial Sciences Associates and Prudential Insurance Company of America where she played a leadership role in various actuarial and risk management capacities.
Ms. Cheung is actively involved in the health care industry. She has served on committees for the American Academy of Actuaries, the Society of Actuaries, the Actuarial Society of New York and the Self-Insurance Institute of America. She has also presented at numerous industry events.
Ms. Cheung is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (1994), a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (1991) and a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries (2006). She graduated Bachelor Magna Cum Laude from the City University of New York (1987).

Mary Pozuelo, RN, LHRM, CMS, has over 20 years of managed care, nursing, underwriting, operation and management, and marketing experience in the managed care and health insurance industries. Her expertise in the medical field, along with her business experience, provides an integral and unique component of CP Risk Solutions services. She has serviced her clients in medical underwriting, underwriting, product development and program management, audits, contract and treaty review, and broker relations.
Ms. Pozuelo’s experience includes a variety of roles and responsibilities in various health care fields.
Ms. Pozuelo was an assistant vice president at Platinum Underwriters Reinsurance, Inc., responsible for underwriting Platinum’s Accident and Health business including stop loss, fully insured, carve-out programs, and short term medical. She was responsible for both financial and medical underwriting, claims assessments, marketing, program management and implementation. She helped establish benchmark treaty wording and underwriting guidelines.
Prior to Platinum, Ms. Pozuelo was a second vice president and senior account executive in the Group Marketing Division of Gen Re Life. She was responsible for marketing and coordinating health reinsurance to insurance carriers.
Ms. Pozuelo was a vice president of Marketing and Customer Service and Pre-certification/Utilization Review of Strategic Health Development Corporation. She managed a staff of 53 nurses and intake coordinators for utilization review, quality control, and work-site risk management.
Ms. Pozuelo was clinical supervisor for a home health agency in Tampa, Florida and also worked as an oncology nurse at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida.
